Who We Are
Born in one of the darkest moments of recent history, Mbon’ncham Mekah International Foundation (MMIF), originally known as Helping Hands Calgary Foundation (HHCF), was established to restore hope and dignity to individuals and communities deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization aimed to provide a sense of inclusion and identity to communities demonized, ostracized, and stereotyped due to pandemic-related myths, while championing vaccine advocacy and delivering vital resources to underserved populations.
Five compassionate individuals united to form HHCF, initially operating from their garages, delivering food hampers to those impacted by COVID-19 and offering transportation to vaccination centers. Through partnerships with Umoja Community Mosaic, Calgary Foundation, and the Foundation for Black Communities, HHCF led successful vaccine advocacy campaigns and distributed food hampers to vulnerable residents in Calgary’s northeast. This grassroots initiative evolved into the federally incorporated charity now known as MBO’NCHAM MEKAH INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION (MMIF).
MMIF remains committed to empowering individuals and families by providing access to education, healthcare, food, and essential resources. At its core, MMIF believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling life, regardless of their circumstances. Through its various programs, the foundation seeks to create lasting change by fostering sustainable collaboration within communities and promoting equal opportunities for all.
MMIF operates with transparency and accountability, ensuring that every donation is used effectively. The foundation values feedback from its supporters and the communities it serves, continuously striving to improve and maximize its impact.
